SG024 - National Operations Manager

Our client is one of the largest and most respected agricultural animal feed product supply businesses in the UK. They are recruiting for an interesting new senior position. As National Operations Manager the pivotal role requires a unique skills balance between Operations, Production and Logistics to lead the commercial operational relationships within our growing nationwide ruminant animal feed business.
This senior national position will oversee both the strategic and day to day management of feed blends production at the companys own locations as well as third party production facilities. You will also manage the logistics planning team and capital development projects. This role requires a great relationship builder, coordinator and manager. You will be working with multiple teams across the businesses and so great communication needs to be one of your key strengths.
This role will be based at one of the companys facilities in North Yorkshire and will require some national UK travel.

Role Tasks and Objectives

Manage the strategic operational relationships with third party manufacturing partners, and via the local manager, day to day management of company owned sites for manufactured blended feed to meet company standards and legislation

Lead and support the logistics planning team. Primarily through third parties, accountable for provisioning manufacturing sites with raw materials and outbound transportation of manufactured products and straights

Direct and support the operations team to ensure cost effective, safe, compliant and optimum performance of the blends plant and transport fleet

Ensure seamless interaction and communications with commercial and customer facing teams

Propose and manage the implementation of capital projects and other proposals in support of business objectives

Ensure all administrative procedures through the Blends process are efficient and well managed including purchase contract execution, the stock control process and working in conjunction with the sales and admin teams SOP process to smooth demand and production capacity

Agree market needs, identified by the commercial team relating to quality, product format and service levels, and translate into improved product offerings valued by the customer

Compile annual operations budget with the Supply Chain Team and Finance

Engage with the wider company and third party teams to develop and implement best practice across the blends supply chain

Help create and sustain a continuous improvement culture within the teams

Candidate Requirements;

Someone who has developed extensive experience in the blended or compound animal feed industry with strong practical knowledge and a demonstrable track record in practical production, distribution and people management

Has leadership skills and able to effectively build relationships to garner collaboration from internal colleagues and external third party manufacturing and haulage partners

Knowledge of provisioning manufacturing sites, inbound and outbound logistics and stock management

Good organisational skills with ability to prioritise and respond to rapidly changing conditions and business priorities

Numerate, analytical and with the ability to interpret performance data and carry out financial budgeting for manufacturing and distribution

Knowledge of raw material characteristics and animal feed legislation is beneficial

A strong desire to succeed and resilient under pressure

There will be significant requirement to travel around the UK and hold a full driving licence
