De Lacy Executive are looking to recruit a Field Research Manager to lead, drive and execute field development and field data management for a global organisation. The role will also manage the UK Field Trials team.


To lead planning processes resource allocation for field development in all aspects of internal field experiments including: trial site selection, test item application/seed treating, processing and subsequent assessment of experiments and data management to meet the global strategies defined at segment and category levels.

Drive field trials execution for internally and externally developed data to a standard of excellence.

Establish and sustain smart plot data collection, storage and analysis for all biological data globally.

Develop and train the team to ensure competence in field experiments.

Collaborate with the RD and Technical teams to ensure that key targets are met.

Manage the timeliness and quality of field data in accordance with the relevant study plans, COFRAC and European Plant Protection Organisation (EPPO) guidelines and, as appropriate, other national and regional standards.

Ensure that team agronomy skills are developed through day-to-day work and training. Establish mentoring opportunities for team members and facilitate personal development plans, which strengthens ALS ability to promote and succession plan from within.

This position is a key role, managing the Field Development team, located in the UK, to ensure that all data is generated to the appropriate international standards and business requirements.


Technical Degree (MSc) in Biology, Agronomy, Plant Sciences or a Seed Treatment related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.

Minimum of 5 years experience within a field trial environment including selection of trial site and field experimental design.

Experience in Crop husbandry, agronomy and soil management.

Experienced in operating agricultural machinery e.g., tractor driving and spraying.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a team.

Strong proven data management skills; interpretation, collation and reporting.

Effective communication with internal stakeholders from technical, marketing and commercial functions.

Effective communication with farmers and members of the local community at off-site field trials locations.

Strong working knowledge of field trials practice and biological efficacy testing in field situations

Awareness of local and international regulations for the safe handling of chemicals and the ability to conduct risk assessments.

Computer literacy for the use of Excel and Agricultural Research Manager (ARM), plus other Microsoft software.

A sound understanding of the principles of GEP the ability to work as Study Director.
