De Lacy Executive has been retained to recruit a Maintenance Breeder in Cambridgeshire for a major global seed business. This position will join the Breeding team to organize and implement the multiplication and maintenance of varieties and potential varieties of all species multiplied by the company.

De Lacy Executive has been retained to recruit a Maintenance Breeder in Cambridgeshire for a major global seed business. This position will join the Breeding team to organize and implement the multiplication and maintenance of varieties and potential varieties of all species multiplied by the company.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and perform the maintenance and multiplication of varieties of Cereals and Oilseed species.

Monitor the multiplication plots and crops for varietal and species purity.

Organize and participate in the harvesting, seed cleaning, seed preparation and planting.

Supervise and participate in the rogueing of all crops being multiplied by the company.

Examine in detail both growing and harvested material for varietal identity and uniformity.

Coordinate the preparation, dispatch and inspection of seed and plant material.

Report regularly about fields operations and achieve a good liaison with stakeholders.

Report any presence of pests, diseases, weeds and physiological disorders.

Maintain accurate records of stock purity observations made on plots and crops.

Take part in crossing programs and any other breeding activities as required.

Motivate, supervise and train other staff as required.

Requirements:

Relevant Breeding experience preferable.

Attention to detail.

Good team-work, communication and organization skills.

Willingness to work extended hours in high season.

Willingness to travel within the UK.

Trustworthiness, reliability, and the initiative and motivation to work unsupervised.

A Cereals Crop inspecting qualification is required - training can be given.

Full UK driving license is essential. Forklift truck license also required - training can be given.

Experience of variety registration and official trial application is desirable.
