H112 - Dairy Herd Manager - Gloucestershire
An exceptional opening has arisen for a hands on Dairy Herd Manager. Our client is seeking a candidate to manage a progressive and profitable dairy herd and to maintain the highest standards of husbandry and management. Milking takes place twice a day through a 40:40 herringbone parlour.
There would also be the potential for the successful candidate to make the role their own.
Follow and develop the dairy protocols in conjunction with the farm owner.
Ensure cows are properly fed.
Manage a team of three staff and delegate daily duties and holiday rotas.
Maintain animal health and welfare to a high standard - with assistance from staff or vets as required.
Achieve various production targets set for the herd.
Ensure all paperwork and computerised records are completed in a timely manner.
Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
Several years of dairy herd management experience with a passion for the industry.
An agricultural qualification. Desirable, but not essential.
Foot trimming experience.
Good communication skills.
Able to work with, contribute to and enforce protocols.
The ability to lead and motivate a small team and pay attention to detail.
A good understanding and knowledge of: herd fertility, dairy nutrition and cow health.
Well organised and proactive.
