The Formulation Technician will carry out the preparation and testing of formulation samples to satisfy some of the RD objectives of the company. The formulation technician supports the development and testing of new products and development programmes undertaken by the formulation scientists and chemists and interacts closely with them to ensure that all formulation data generated is to the appropriate international standards. The RD team are based at a modern research and development facility in lovely rural surroundings.
Development of innovative chemical and biological seed treatment formulations and provision of support to existing seed treatment products.
Perform and record detailed physical property measurements and assessments of storage stability under a range of temperature conditions in accordance with the relevant study plans, guidelines and crop protection directives.
Use formulation techniques such as particle size analysis (laser diffraction), image analysis, rheology, wet bead milling, high shear dispersion and granulation.
Perform and record detailed physical/chemical assessments of formulation characteristics to determine the acceptability of recipes.
Conduct larger pilot production studies in preparation for full scale manufacture.
Support global sampling by preparing and dispatching samples for use in regulatory and field studies.
Accurately record data from all studies in benchbooks, pro-formas, databases and spreadsheets and check data quality to look for trends (e.g. shelf life).
Educated to Degree level or HND in relevant scientific subject.
At least 2 years work experience in formulation and product development.
Good organization skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Broad range of experience in formulation preparation testing in laboratory.
A sound understanding of the principles of GLP.
Diligent with attention to detail.
Good verbal communication skills and able to keep detailed records.
Computer literacy for the use of Excel, Access, and other MS Office software.
Ability to work under pressure and have a flexible attitude
