An enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Development Programme Support is sought by a provider of supply chain and sustainability services to major retail, food and agricultural commodity businesses.

This is an excellent opportunity for a new graduate or equally, an individual with wider experience who wishes to start/develop a career within the agri-food supply chain. Initially for a 9 month contract there is the possibility this position may be extended at the end of this period.

This role will be embedded in the London headquarters of a major retailer but may involve some occasional travel in the UK.

The role will be pivotal in terms of knowledge share and the communication of current initiatives and in identifying additional opportunities where there may be synergies between the customer and supplier.

To be successful, you will have the desire to undertake a role which is broad in scope, fast moving coupled with accountability and real responsibility. This exciting position provides a unique opportunity to gain full insight into multiple food supply chains and engage with the key players.

Role and Responsibilities:

Be responsible for the on-going implementation of the newly embedded project management system

Respond to the growing business demand for this system by driving a smooth roll out across additional business functions

Work with and support category managers and technologists who lead RD projects to fully adopt the new system as a BAU tool

Manage and continually update the centralised RD library and be responsible for its on-going development

Present updates assertively and effectively as required at management meetings

Attend RD project review meetings to facilitate and stimulate the full implementation of the management system. This would include engagement with external project partners.

Provide regular updates to the central finance team to support budget planning for RD.

Primary contact for all RD data enquiries ensuring a full and timely response. This may include supporting the creation of presentations based on the information held in the central system, finance updates, invoice queries and reviews of activity against strategy.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience of RD in agri-food is desirable

Ability to work in a fast paced environment, prioritising and time managing tasks accordingly

Team player who is amiable and flexible with colleagues

Strong organisational skills, self-management and motivation with an assertive approach

Strong desire to provide structure and work in a logical format.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Good presentation skills

Ability to record information concisely and accurately

Competent in the use of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Problem solving capabilities

An open mind to new challenges and objectives

Able to build healthy, effective relationships with others

A working knowledge of finance processes is desirable

Remuneration:

A competitive remuneration package will be on offer dependant on experience.
