An experienced field trials specialist is urgently sought to lead a Field Trials programme and to manage a Field Trials Team in South of France.
An experienced field trials specialist is urgently sought to lead a Field Trials programme and to manage a Field Trials Team to support global innovation; testing of new products; and development programmes for a Global Crop Protection company.
This position is a key role, managing the Field Trials team to ensure that all data is generated to the appropriate international standards and business requirements.
Manage a highly productive field trials team to generate data in support of R D for crop protection and seed treatment products.
Design the Field Trials facilities and capabilities to provide an efficient and compliant service.
Design field trial experiments to satisfy research and commercial objectives.
Develop and train the team to ensure competence in trials.
Collaborate with the R D and Technical teams to ensure that key targets are met.
Manage the field trials programme and perform high quality field operations such as cultivation work (ploughing, harrowing, sub-soiling), seed treating, drilling, combining and spraying in line with the requirements of the business.
Perform test item application for seed treatment and foliar sprays using a combination of well-established methods and novel testing procedures.
Perform and record detailed assessments of crop emergence, disease levels and the health of the crop at different growth stages in accordance with the relevant study plans, and European Plant Protection Organisation (EPPO) guidelines.
Work to the principles of Good Experimental Practice (GEP).
Maintain all farm equipment and laboratory resources to an acceptable standard of maintenance and housekeeping.
Preparation and approval of final study plans, reports and trials master schedule.
Record all data accurately and manage the generation of high quality field data.
Ensure that trials team agronomy skills are developed through day-to- day work and training.
Candidates need to have at least three years work experience in Agricultural Field Trials, or Crop Trials work
Ideally candidates will be a graduate with a relevant Science or Agriculture Degree.
Experience in working to stringent technical and quality guidelines is essential.
Must be motivated, energetic and enthusiastic, able to work on own initiative and lead a team effectively
Farming and arable crop growing experience and knowledge helpful.
Must have good organization and planning skills
Computer literate (ideally Excel, ARM and Access Databases, plus other MSOffice software) with excellent communication skills.
A flexible approach to the seasonal nature of the workload.
Full driving licence essential.
English and French language skills
