H060 - Poultry Supply Chain Manager
De Lacy Executive is recruiting for an influential Supply Chain Manager who has previous poultry processing experience. Our client is highly respected within the Poultry Industry and is now seeking an exceptional candidate for this very important role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the supplier assurance function, by ensuring that all suppliers comply with specifications, applicable legislation and specific customer requirements (including animal welfare).
Required Qualifications Experience
Degree in agriculture or food or similar.
Detailed knowledge of quality and food safety (HACCP) management systems.
Team leadership and coaching skills.
Food industry and agriculture auditing experience - ideally with a recognised auditor qualification.
Animal husbandry (including welfare) knowledge and experience gained in an agricultural environment (preferably poultry).
Primary processing knowledge and experience (preferably poultry).
Previous experience in a supplier assurance role.
Strong customer influencing skills.
The main responsibilities are:
Supplier Approval - Ensuring that all suppliers are risk-assessed and audited and taking appropriate action to rectify areas of supplier facility non-conformance,
New Supplier Development - Developing and approving new suppliers according to the business procurement strategy and in compliance with customer protocols. Working with suppliers to ensure they comply with the requirements of third-party audits undertaken on behalf of customers and according to the necessary inspection frequency.
Supplier Performance Monitoring - Using the material intake data compiled by internal facilities and suppliers, oversee the quality/food safety/welfare performance of all purchased materials and other services by suppliers. Taking the necessary action to investigate significant quality failures and supplier related food safety/welfare issues.
Supplier Data Management - Ensuring that the supplier assurance function maintains detailed databases for all suppliers to include supplier facility status/audit scores, key performance indicators (including welfare, quality, non-conformance incidences), self-assessments (e.g. sustainability requirements), agricultural practices/feed sourcing details and other information on operational practices of interest to the business and its customers.
Technical Support - Keeping abreast of all relevant legislation (European, National) and emerging issues relating to purchased materials and their respective supply chains. Participating in supply chain related customer technical forums, taking a leadership role to provide support for customers and other stakeholders.
New Product Development - Supporting the business procurement and facility technical teams in the development of new or modified material specifications. Working with suppliers to ensure that new production requirements are implemented successfully to achieve the specified quality, food safety and other agreed performance criteria.
The companys offices are based in the Midlands but there will be a significant amount of travelling to supplier/customer/industry meetings in Europe, Russia and other locations.
