M578 - Business Development Director - Fertiliser - UK Europe

On behalf of our innovative client, we are actively seeking an experienced sales and business development professional to help this high quality fertiliser supplier to quickly increase its presence across agriculture and horticulture sectors in the UK and Europe.

Our client is a progressive company operating in the fertiliser sector. Their innovative products are already established in the UK and are proven to significantly enhance crop performance and have a several unique selling points. The business is keen to expand its European customer base and hence the need to recruit a Business Development Director based in the UK to work across the European Union.

The Director will be responsible for establishing executing a strategy for the sales volume growth of fertiliser products across both the agriculture and horticulture markets, including conventional and organic farming. There will also be involvement with research development, and regulatory frameworks. Market penetration and future sales strategy are also key elements.

Duties and responsibilities:-

Lead the growth of fertiliser sales by ensuring the effective allocation of sales and technical service for potential, new, and existing customers.

Identify and develop new market and customer opportunities for fertiliser products.

Work closely with agronomy consultants to understand and provide input on research development opportunities.

Manage relationships with customers and across functions to ensure financial and operational goals are met.

Gather market intelligence from the field relative to competitive activity, business activity, and changing trends in the Agriculture and Horticulture sectors.

Develop relationships throughout the sales channel that will provide both "push" and "pull through" sales opportunities for the business.

Provide input on marketing activity development and implementation within the regions.

Attend industry trade shows and network within the industry and business segments.

Interact with relevant regulatory bodies to ensure company products can be sold for conventional and organic farming throughout Europe.

Secure the retention of existing business.

Guide supply chain optimization including warehousing and haulage.

Qualifications and skills: -

Relevant Degree or equivalent in agriculture, agronomy, business or similar.

MBA preferred but not essential.

10+ years in the agriculture industry within UK and/ or Europe.

Proven business development sales experience required.

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels.

Must be able to think strategically and creatively while also executing tactically.

Must have good computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

Willing to travel across the UK and Europe, up to 50% of time.

Must be able to work independently as part of a small European team.
