The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is a statutory levy board, funded by farmers, growers and others in the supply chain and managed as an independent organisation (independent of both commercial industry and of Government).
Their purpose is to equip levy payers with independent, evidence-based information and tools to grow and become more competitive and sustainable.
The role of the Farm Benchmarking Manager is to lead and support a team of field-based Regional Benchmarking Officers, to ensure farm enterprise data sets are collected, validated, analysed and fed back to farmers. In addition the Farm benchmarking Manager is responsible for managing farm enterprise data collection related projects, such as website applications used by the team.
This is an Office based role in Warwickshire.
THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and line manage the Regional Benchmarking Officers and Validator within the Farm Economics team (FE) as well as managing any data collection/validator contractors.
Manage data collection related projects such as the development of web-based benchmarking applications.
Project manage the delivery of benchmarking to ensure the achievement of sector agreed targets for data collection and other aspects of service delivery.
Liaise with the regional farmer-facing staff in AHDB and external stakeholders in developing the work of the benchmarking team.
Manage training and support for the RBOs and, if required, contract data collectors in other regions and to inform and support higher level management decisions relating to the RBO team that fall within the Head of FE remit.
Significant contact with stakeholders within areas of responsibility.
Some data collection and validation to be agreed with the Head of FE.
Additional Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Team admin regarding meetings and team cohesion.
Team development needs (PDR).
Liaising with Analysts to ensure data usefulness and understanding
Professional qualification in Economics/Agriculture or another numerate discipline, or equivalent experience
Knowledge of physical and financial data recording systems, including tax and management accounts; the main cost of production principles,
Knowledge of farming practices and inputs markets particularly in the dairy, beef and sheep sectors
Experience of using modern IT applications, especially MS Excel
Strong Team player
Excellent Communication Skills
Valid UK driving licence
