S197 - Technical Manager - Growing Media - North West

De Lacy Executive is looking to recruit a Technical Manager in the North West for one of the leading and fastest growing horticultural companies in the UK. The role will oversee the production of Growing Media for the manufacturing site, ensuring the technical integrity of all products both professional and retail. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the technical and QC team, determining the potential for new product development and maintaining the technical integrity, quality, safety, testing and analysis across the product range.

The role will oversee the production of Growing Media for the manufacturing site, ensuring the technical integrity of all products both professional and retail. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the technical and QC team, determining the potential for new product development and maintaining the technical integrity, quality, safety, testing and analysis across the product range.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for professional growing products.

Manage the technical integrity of the product range, including testing and analysis of new and existing products.

Providing technical support to quality and purchasing teams, setting technical specifications and assisting with compliance inspections and testing.

Building relationships with key suppliers, ensuring access to the latest technologies and competitive raw materials.

Builds key relationships with all Professional Growers assisting with any technical and development queries.

Provide assistance with Benchmarking against peat based products.

Develops and formulates products for growing media trials within the manufacturing team.

Helps oversee Lab testing and measurement.

Project related work on innovation of products and accurate measurement.

Requirements:

The Successful candidate must have relevant Senior Management experience within a busy production environment.

Minimum of 3 years relevant successful business, manufacturing experience at an operational level within Agri / Horticulture / Nursery environment dealing with Growing Media.

Graduate in Horticulture or Soil Science /Agri/ Biology.

A strong understanding of dealing with professional growers from within the Horticulture / Agri industry is highly desirable.

Experience of developing a QC team.

Understanding of a Lab/Nursery environment.

Budget Management Experience.

Current Driving Licence and the availability and willingness to travel domestic and overseas.

A competitive salary package is on offer to reflect the roles responsibilities. This is dependant on the applicants individual experience.
