Arable crops specialist, or agricultural consultant, with ability to give advise to farmers and provide wider ranging consultancy skills.

An experienced agricultural consultant with in depth knowledge of arable crop production in Scotland is sought to join a leading agricultural consultancy team. Our client is at the forefront of sustainable and innovative rural and agricultural development. This is a wide ranging and varied consultancy and advisory role working closely with farmers and growers across Scotland. Our client is keen to appoint a senior consultant with the capability to lead and develop a team of more junior consultants.

Duties to include:

Providing business consultancy services to farmers, growers, and landowners.

Farm visits as required, also farmer meetings.

Providing technical advice on crop growing, agronomy and land use.

Working with colleagues and leading a small team to develop the arable service offered.

To write press articles and technical bulletins

Present at meetings and events as required

Carry out projects as required.

Build relations with farming groups, growers, processors and retailers.

Candidate requirements:-

An HND, Degree or equivalent in Agriculture or similar subject.

At least 2 years previous consultancy experience.

Proven business experience in agriculture, crop production, farming, agronomy, or the rural sector.

Ideally BASIS and FACTS qualified - although this may not be essential.

Practical experience in arable farming and agricultural systems.

Proven team leading or people management skills would be helpful.

Good communication skills, including public speaking experience.

Full driving licence.

Location: Home or Office based in Scotland with significant travel around the region to see clients.
