H041 - Supply Chain Technical Manager
De Lacy Executive is recruiting for an influential Supply Chain Technical Manager. Our client is highly respected within the Poultry Industry and is now seeking an exceptional candidate for this very important role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the supplier assurance function, by ensuring that all suppliers comply with specifications, applicable legislation and specific customer requirements (including animal welfare).
The main responsibilities are:
Be the senior contact with customers with regard to supply chain requirements from a food safety, quality and regulatory perspective.
Keep abreast of all relevant legislation (European, National) and emerging issues relating to purchased materials and their respective supply chains.
Participate in supply chain related customer technical forums, whilst taking a leadership role to provide support for customers and other stakeholders is a major responsibility.
Implement systems to develop effective relationships with suppliers, and approve new suppliers according to the business procurement strategy and in compliance with customer protocols.
Identify potential opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvement, welfare enhancement and general supplier development, to ensure that new production requirements are implemented successfully to achieve the specified quality, food safety and other agreed performance criteria.
Working with suppliers you will ensure they comply with the requirements of third-party audits undertaken on behalf of customers, whilst also creating the necessary systems to investigate significant quality failures and supplier related food safety/welfare.
Ensure that the supplier assurance function maintains detailed databases for all suppliers to include audit scores, key performance indicators (including welfare, quality, non-conformance incidences), agricultural practices/feed sourcing details/sustainability and other information on operational practices as is of interest to the business and its customers.
Required Qualifications Experience
Higher level degree (2.2 or above) or equivalent professional qualifications
Detailed knowledge of quality and food safety (HACCP) management systems
Team leadership and coaching skills
Food ingredient industry and agriculture auditing experience - ideally with a recognised auditor qualification
Animal husbandry (including welfare) knowledge and experience gained in an agricultural environment (preferably poultry)
Primary processing knowledge and experience (preferably poultry)
Previous experience in a supplier assurance role
Strong customer influencing skills
The companys offices are based in the Midlands but there will be a significant amount of travelling to supplier/customer/industry meetings in Europe, Russia and other locations.
