S193 - Assistant Farm Manager - Fruit - South of England

Varied new role to support the Farm Manager of a large and successful soft fruit farm in the South of England. The Assistant Farm Manager will help to manage and add value to the main processes involved in soft fruit production. Specific duties will be to assist the farm manager in the day to day running of the farm, help to manage the fruit harvest, and organise the spraying of crops as required.

This role requires an individual with good people skills, someone who can get very much involved in the people side of the Fruit Farm and help to co-ordinate the large staff team.


Help with planning of daily production tasks and co-ordinate labour allocation.

Provide Team Coordinators with clear instructions and direction.

Ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard.

Ensure work is carried out with full awareness of Health and Safety requirements.

Coordinate staff training and help with staff inductions.

Work with Farm Manager to maintain accurate production records.

Plan harvest activities with the Farm Manager, organise operations, logistics, and help to maintain fruit quality.

Communicate with staff and packhouse to ensure efficient and effective operation.

Crop Protection - ensure all the necessary paperwork in place, recommended pesticides are used, and necessary Health Safety and Environmental requirements are met.

Crop spraying activities and other husbandry tasks as required.

Communicate with other key staff members as required and help to coordinate the harvest teams.

Candidate Requirements:

Relevant Horticultural or Agricultural qualification helpful.

Previous experience in farm management or fruit growing.

Experience in people management and experience in coordinating harvest teams or similar groups.

Excellent communication skills.

Keen eye for detail and able to work to high standards to ensure fruit quality.

Ability to plan and prioritise workload.

IT Skills
