S187 - Farm Manager - Fresh Produce - West Midlands

De Lacy Executive has been asked to recruit a Farm Manager in the West Midlands for a large, multi-site Fresh Produce business. The business is family owned and long established, specialising in growing, packing and distributing a variety of vegetables, brassicas and salads.Our client is a major supplier into supermarkets, independent retailers, wholesalers, food service, caterers and food manufacturing sectors where standards are consistently very high. Within a fast paced farming environment, the Farm Manager will work closely with the Harvesting Manager. Within a small, dynamic team you would be expected to manage the farm network from drilling, through to seeding and harvesting in keeping with supply expectations from the Head Office.

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain an efficient farm

Manage all farm staff (non-harvesting)

Management and control of all costs associated with the farming activities

Manage and motivate staff effectively

Planning of crops and ordering of seed and plant to fulfil requirements

Management of farm related paperwork in particular timely and correct usage of purchase ordering system

Report on farm performance according to company requirements

Communicate company strategy and policies effectively to all farm staff

Improve and maintain a high level of health and safety

Comprehensive control of stock and chemicals

Management and maintenance of all farm equipment

Requirements:

Excellent relationship and managerial skills

Ability to plan and organise own workload

Ability to lead and manage a team

Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure

Attention to detail

Prioritisation Skills

Excellent written and verbal skills

Strong organisational skills
