Analytical Chemist or Technician with GC and HPLC skills urgently sought.
Do you already have some analytical experience in a laboratory environment e.g. Food, Animal Feed, Cereals, Brewing, Pharmaceutical, or similar. The Analytical Technician will carry out chemical analysis (GC and HPLC) on plant and forage samples to satisfy some of the RD objectives of the company. There will also be involvement in a wide range of formulation activity and other laboratory based duties. The RD team are based at a modern research and development facility in lovely rural surroundings in Worcestershire.
Conduct chemical analysis (GC and HPLC) on a wide range of samples including plant, seed and forage samples.
Prepare samples of a range of formulation types (e.g. suspensions, emulsions, granules and powders) using specialist laboratory scale equipment.
Conduct larger pilot production studies in preparation for full scale manufacture.
Perform and record detailed physical property measurements and assessments of storage stability under a range of temperature conditions in accordance with the relevant study plans, guidelines and crop protection directives.
Use novel testing procedures.
Support global sampling by preparing and dispatching samples for use in regulatory and field studies.
Accurately record data from all studies in benchbooks, pro-formas, databases and spreadsheets and check data quality to look for trends (e.g. shelf life).
Maintain all analytical laboratory resources and equipment to an acceptable standard.
Work to the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Work according to documented procedures, policies and safety standards.
Contribute to team meetings.
Educated to Degree level or HND in relevant scientific subject.
At least 1 years work experience in an analytical laboratory environment.
Experienced in GC and HPLC analysis techniques.
Good organization skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Broad range of experience in testing in a laboratory.
A sound understanding of the principles of GLP.
Diligent with attention to detail.
Good verbal communication skills and able to keep detailed records.
Computer literacy for the use of Excel, Access, and other MS Office software.
Ability to work under pressure and have a flexible attitude.
