J553 - Managing Director (Designate)

A rare entrepreneurial opportunity has arisen for a professional in the ruminant feed sector to fill the position of Managing Director designate. The company has achieved sales success and technical acclaim in the UK and internationally with its UK manufactured range of specialist nutritional products. The shareholders, who have led sales and development to date, have decided that the time is right to invest in the next development phase of the business by building an effective technical sales team under the direction of the MD designate. Products are sold primarily to farmers via the compound and feed merchant trade.

This is home based role but office accommodation is also available in the companys head office.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead medium to long term development of the business working closely with the active shareholders.

Build a sales technical team to continue rapid sales growth and create a succession plan.

Take over key commercial account relationships. Initially in UK Ireland Market.

Maintain robust administration and support function.

Further develop brand market presence

Ensure on going technical compliance with appropriate industry legislation and developing environmental constraints.

Input in decision making with regard to Australia NZ business and development of other European Markets, particularly Netherlands, Sweden and Norway at this stage.

Become a full board member within 6 months from appointment.

Characteristics of the successful candidate:

Essential

Demonstrate "hands on" commercial experience in agricultural businesses.

Credible agriculture sector knowledge

Proven team leadership.

Proven commercial track record.

Able to work on own direction independently and in a small team.

Demonstrate experience in the agricultural supply trades

Demonstrate experience communicating at farm and senior management level.

Demonstrate capability to work in a fluid unstructured environment with continued day to day involvement by senior shareholders.

Highly Desirable

At least a degree level qualification, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline.

Willingness to travel widely in UK, Ireland and beyond.

Knowledge of Ruminant Nutrition, Dairy and Beef Sectors.

Some current credibility in ruminant sector

A track record in technical sales in ruminant sector

Demonstrate ability in presentations and communications at all levels from farmers through technical and sales staff to director level.

The Rewards:

The remuneration will be structured according to the successful candidates experience and circumstances.

A substantial performance related and / or equity related element will be built into the package.

All appropriate business expenses and vehicle costs will be fully compensated in a manner agreeable to the candidate.
